Date Night Sizzles in the Heat Wave
Why do people care for each other? What makes humans live and die for one another? Where do these deep-seated principles of love and honor and treason reside - in our flesh, or in some other spiritual dimension? What stirs a heart to forgive, rejoice, even, to move on? How can so much love be contained in so much as a glance, a touch, a whisper? Ahh, le sigh...romance.
Too bad I can't remember a specifically inspiring quote from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Still-Beating Heart and its Adventures Around the Sea, since it's the pulsing orchestral soundtrack that sounded in the back of my head as I was inspired to inscribe those flowry words into my blog. Overall, though, actually it's a decently good flick, more or less, in my opinion. Especially the first rolling-cage-full-of-people down the cliff-strewn-island-hills-to-the-shore scene. For some reason that just cracked me up from start to finish. The second one, well, been there, done that.
Ick. Stay cool, everyone. Try not to sweat it. It's only a little heat. We've had worse. Right? Take the dust bowls of the 1930s and 1950s, for example. Right now we're just at "Grapes of Irk" level, right? I wonder what it's like for people in South Dakota, though. My heart goes out to them.
