My Mission Statement for Blog #1: Why Do I Blog?

Recently I've been wasting all my time on the web surfing celebrity gossip blogs. So I thought: why not just use a fraction of that time to record my progress toward the Peace Corps? I'm almost there, it seems, anyway. So now might be a good time to start.

Yesterday I spoke with the placement office of the Peace Corps. They've got all my medical and dental clearances and are now considering my file. I sent them my updated resume, with my new tutoring position and experience. This will be a good place to record all that progress for my friends and family.

Not to mention that one of my primary motivations for applying to the Peace Corps is to find myself by writing a ton. Yet...I've been slow to start. I haven't been exactly churning out the pages this summer. That's okay, though: I've been volunteering, laying around with friends, and getting in all the "American" things I can before I go away for two years.
