Running is one of life's pure pleasures.

I hope I never take for granted my ability to run, as long as I can. I love the challenge of a hilly route. I love the monotony of a long, straight route. I love running around things, like lakes. Running is, for me, a release, an achievement (no matter how small), an ego boost and good for my body and heart.

Today Sadie (my little Shepherd/Lab mix) and I did 4.5 miles, and in 45 minutes, too! There were distinct moments when I just. Wanted it. To stop. But somehow I kept moving, focused on relaxing, and managed a great run on a hot day! The announcer on the Current said it was 86 degrees when I started at 10:00, but that the gigantic purple bruises amassing on the horizon would break up, leaving only a blindingly bright, sunny sky and a heat index of 106! The clouds were so substantial-looking and brooding, I scoffed at her suggestion that they would just drift away; but, disappear into the heat they did.

My whole body feels energized now. Sadie's pooped, but she's wagging her tail. I might even get around to folding my laundry. Might!

Peace!
